Imrana Buba is a PhD Research Fellow and Doctoral Candidate at the University of Oslo. His doctoral research focuses on the dynamics of political violence in Nigeria, particularly the unintended negative consequences of civilian self-protection in the context of the Boko Haram insurgency and communal violence. Prior to beginning his PhD, he worked for several local and international organizations as a community development and conflict sensitivity specialist in Nigeria. He graduated from the University of Maiduguri with a BSc in Political Science and an MSc in Africa and International Development from the University of Edinburgh.
