Leonor Toscano is a PhD Research Fellow and Doctoral Candidate at the University of Oslo. Her doctoral research focuses on the gender dimensions of civilian agency and local peacebuilding in the context of communal and electoral violence in Kenya. She is particularly interested in the localisation aspects of UNSC1325, the Kenyan Peacebuilding Architecture, and gender inclusion and women’s agency in protracted conflicts. Prior to beginning her PhD, she worked as a trainee for The Delegation of the European Union to Norway and for Democracy Reporting International. She graduated from NOVA University of Lisbon with a  Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and International Relations and a MPhil in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Oslo.
